Course Description:
This course explores the expectation and nature of global revival and the missional implications. Biblical, historical, and prophetic aspects of global revival are considered. The current revival and growth of the Church in Indonesia, the “Third Pentecost”, is highlighted as evidence of global revival. The course establishes that authentic revival is a sovereign move of God to empower and impel His Church for His missional purposes – i.e. to gather His Harvest. Discussions include the difference and connection between revival and “Awakening”, and the practical applications of gathering Harvest, including evangelism, discipleship and church planting.
OBJECTIVES
The general objectives of this course are as follows:
Understand the nature of revival and awakening, and sense an expectation of a future global revival, known by the Indonesian Church as the “Third Pentecost.”
Biblically and historically identify global revival as a spiritual empowerment for God’s redemptive purposes.
Identify the missional implications and purposes of revival and awakening, recognizing God’s desire for His Church to gather Harvest and understanding what that means.
Understand church planting as a major implication of revival and as an instrument to gather Harvest, and articulate a biblical defense for church planting
Understand the role of education for preparing and mobilizing the workers needed to gather Harvest through evangelism, discipleship, and church planting.
